Vice Chancellor attends the 2nd Dhaka translation Fest 2019

The 2nd Dhaka Translation Fest 2019 was held at Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy Dhaka on 25 October 2019! The festival has been dedicated to the upcoming birth centenary of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Renowned historian, scholar, academic and the International Affairs Adviser to the Prime Minister of the Government of Bangladesh, Mr. Gowher Rizvi was present as the chief guest. Distinguished academic, writer, translator and critic Syed Manzoorul Islam, Fakrul Alam, Spanish poet Francisco Munoz Soler, Poet Kamal Chowdhury, Gauranga Mohanta, Bangla Academy DG and poet Habibullah Sherajee, Dhaka University Pro-Vice Chancellor and poet Mohammad Samad, Additional Secretary Abdullah Al Hasan Chowdhury were present on the occasion. Islamic University Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. H. Rashid Askari made a speech in the inaugural session and moderated the first panel discussion titled “Bangabandhu in translation: Exploring the grand narratives of 1971”. On behalf of Dhaka Translation Fest, Professor Askari urged the Government to set up an International Translation Institute in Bangladesh to promote the translation of the Liberation War literature in particular and the country’s translation industry in general.
