Overview

Lalon Shah hall is one of the renowned residential halls of Islamic University, Kuhtia- Jhenidah, Bangladesh. The name Lalon Shah was derived from the veteran folk, spiritual singer, Bengali Philosopher, author, Baul saint, mystic and song writer of Bangladesh Fakir Lalon Shah. He is one of the renowned figure of Kushtia and Jhenidah. He was born in Jhenidah district on 17 October, 1774 AD and grown up at Kushtia District. After remaining 118 years colorful life, He died on 17 October,1890 AD.  His majar is situated at Cheuriya of Kushtia. On memorizing his contribution to the cultural arena of Bangladesh, the foundation stone of the hall was laid on 27 July, in 2003 by the then the then honorable education minister Dr. M. Osman Faruq and former Vice-chancellor Prof. Dr. M. Mustafizur Rahman. After completion the hall was inaugurated by the then honorable education minister Dr. M. Osman Faruq on 31 may, in 2005.

Since the installment of the hall, it is playing a pivotal role to uplift the standard of education of this university. Alongside Lalon Shah hall has many outstanding achievements in football, cricket, athletics, indoor games, annual sports, debating, Journalism, BNCC, Rover scouts, cultural competitions and other social and cultural activities.
