The department of Economics is one of the largest departments of this university. The department of Economics  started its journey from 1987-88 session along with only 50 students. The faculties of this department are high qualified, technology concern, progressive and friendly. At present, 13 teachers are engaged in providing quality education of around 375 (Undergraduate-300  & Post Graduate-75) students on diversified areas. Along with 13 academic staff, there is also 9 non-academic staff working in the department to provide assistance to students and teachers. There is a large office room for the chair person of the department along with having two rooms for non-academic staff. In addition of office rooms, each teacher has individual office room in the department. The office rooms are well equipped along with having computer, internet facilities, Photocopier, C.C. camera with LCD TV, Printer, Scanner, water purification plant.

There are  4 class rooms, one Seminar Library and a Nice Computer Lab in the department. Each class room has adequate furniture along with having Multi-media Projector facilities. In terms of every aspects the class rooms are scientific and up to date. Recently, the department has established a modern computer Lab having 40 Computers, along with having Air cooler (AC), sound system, Multimedia Projector and internet facilities with the help of HEQEP Sub Project. At a time 40 students can use the Lab. In addition of Computer Lab, there is a well-equipped seminar room in our department. In absence of seminar/workshop, normally classes of the Masters students are held in the room.

Our department has a Seminar Library having  a total of 3000 books and Journals on diversified areas of Economics. In addition, under HEQEP Sub-Project, we have added 400 new updated books in the seminar Library. The Seminar Library adequate furniture along with having AC facilities which provide favorable environment to the students and teachers; but the area of the library is not optimum as per requirements.

The department has good sanitation facilities for the students and teachers. Pure drinking water is available for all in the department.
