Applied chemistry involves learning about substances, techniques, and principles/laws regarding new materials, energy, and the environment from the viewpoint of chemistry and of applying it to humans' welfare and the development of a sustainably viable society. In the Department of Applied Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, we provide education and research from the fundamentals of Chemistry to the most recent fields of applied chemical science. The department provides training on the production of chemicals from experimental level to industrial scale of today’s use and their safe handling, information literacy, experimental techniques and operation of analytical instruments.
The engineering education rests on a foundation of science, of humanities, and of social relationships rather than only on the practical techniques of particular occupations or industries. Thus, we favor an integrated program of study on the major applied chemical principles extending through the entire undergraduate period rather than a division into separate stages. This program is so planned that it may be articulated with specialized and industrialized strategy. Accordingly, students increase their ability not only to solve the specialized engineering problems, but also to function efficiently as a general chemical technologist after graduation.
