Overview

Under the Faculty of Sciences, the Department of Geography and Environment started functioning on October 03, 2017. It is situated on the fourth floor of the Ibn Sina Science Building (Past Nuclear Scientist Dr. Abu Wazed Miah Science Building) of Islamic University. The department consists of four faculty members and hosts about 250 students. The prime objective of this department is to make students aware of the relationship between humans and the physical environment. The department offers a four-year B.Sc. (Hons.) undergraduate program and a one-year/one and a half-year M.Sc. graduate program. MSc-level students are offered courses of two streams covering both thesis and non-thesis groups. The Graduate Program also offers Master of Philosophy (M.Phil.) and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.). The department offers multiple courses on Physical Geography, Human Geography, Geo-spatial Techniques (GIS & Remote Sensing), and Environmental Sciences.
