Honorable Vice Chancellor Leads Islamic University Delegation on Erasmus+ Visit to Finland and Sweden
Honorable Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. AKM Motinur Rahman, along with five faculty members from the Department of Public Administration, will visit Finland and Sweden from 30 May to 20 June 2026 to participate in academic and research collaboration programmes in Europe. The delegation will take part in a range of activities under the Erasmus+ project, RESHAPE (Regenerating Socio-Cultural Sustainability and Planetary Wellbeing in Higher Education: Global Partnership). The programme is coordinated by Turku University of Applied Sciences, Finland, in collaboration with the University of Gävle, Sweden, and Laurea University of Applied Sciences, Finland.
The participating faculty members are Professor Dr. Md. Fakhrul Islam, Chairman of the Department of Public Administration; Professor Dr. Mohammad Selim; Professor Dr. Mohammad Asaduzzaman; Professor Dr. Mohammad Zulfiqur Hossain; and Professor Dr. Mohammad Lutfor Rahman. The Department of Public Administration at Islamic University is one of five Bangladeshi universities selected to implement the project. Earlier, on 3rd September last year, the department organized a presentation and discussion session on the project activities. During the programme, Project Coordinator Professor Dr. Mohammad Asaduzzaman highlighted various aspects of the project. The event was attended by the then Vice Chancellor, Professor Dr. Nakib Muhammad Nasrullah
The visit will provide an important opportunity for the participating faculty members to enhance their professional competencies and gain first-hand experience of contemporary higher education systems in Europe. Through direct engagement with international academics and researchers, they will be exposed to research-based teaching methods, innovative pedagogical approaches, interdisciplinary research practices, and sustainability-oriented academic frameworks. The programme will also facilitate knowledge exchange and foster opportunities for future collaborative research initiatives. Participation in the Erasmus+ project is expected to further strengthen Islamic University’s international partnerships, expand its global academic network, and create new avenues for research and institutional collaboration. These outcomes are likely to contribute to the development of a more internationally connected and research-driven academic environment at the university.
The visit carries additional significance as it includes the Vice Chancellor, who is participating in his capacity as the highest authority of the university. His involvement elevates the engagement beyond a departmental initiative and reflects Islamic University’s broader commitment to internationalization. The Vice Chancellor’s presence is expected to enhance high-level academic dialogue, strengthen institutional partnerships, and promote the university’s visibility within the global higher education community.
