The department of computer science and engineering (CSE) is one of the leading departments under the faculty of engineering and technology (formerly faculty of applied science and technology) at Islamic University of Kushtia in Bangladesh. It has been started its journey with only 30 undergraduate students since 1995 when the faculty of applied science and technology was launched first in Islamic University. In every academic year, 50 undergraduate students based on merits are newly enrolled in the department through a tough a public competition. The department provides higher degrees such as PhD and postgraduate (MPhil) in computer science and engineering besides the graduate and undergraduate degrees. The department is committed to provide world class environments for the students with modern class rooms, departmental library enriched with books and journals related to the discipline.
In addition, the department provides research facilities to both national and international researchers in different branches of computer science & engineering and their applications in Biomedical, Bioinformatics, Robotics, Computer Vision, and Natural Language Processing. There is a special lab dedicated to the Android based Mobile Apps and Game Development. The department regularly organizes Workshops, Webinars, and Symposiums addressed by internationally renowned professors, researchers, and IT specialists. The students of this department are also involved in some extra-curricular activities such as programming contest (both national and international), voluntarily teaching free lancing in the name of IUIT Society, and sports. The students who have successfully graduated from this department are now servicing/teaching in the government/ non-government organizations, Universities in Bangladesh or abroad with fame. The department feels honor and proud for those graduates who are holding leading positions in some world famous organizations/ academic institutions.
The department ensures the study of meritorious students from all over the World in a peaceful environment with no discrimination at all. The foreign students avail accommodation facilities in a separate international block of a student’s hostel which is very near to the Department. The medium of instructions of this department is English. Any bright student from any corner of the World is welcome to the department for study.
